SYDNEY LOZADA, M.A., LPC-ASSOCIATE, NCC

I am currently a doctoral student working on my PhD at The University of Texas at San Antonio. I received my Master of Arts in Clinical and Mental Health Counseling from University of the Cumberlands, and my Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign where I had a concentration in clinical and community psychology as well as social justice.

I believe that mental health is a crucial part of our lives which tends to be overlooked. According to the National Institute of Health, approximately one in five Americans lives with a mental illness. The number of people who receive treatment for their mental health issues is not nearly as high in comparison due to a myriad of reasons, such as: stigma, financial barriers, or access to a mental health professional. I believe that if an individual desires mental health counseling, they should receive it.

I believe that therapy is a collaborative journey between client and counselor. I take a holistic view of the client in order to create a personalized treatment plan. Each person is unique, there is not a “one size fits all” cure in therapy. Throughout this journey, I hope to support you and cheer you on as you achieve your goals.
