Amy Hansen, BS

I am a Texas native from the San Antonio area. I graduated from Samuel Clemens High School in 2005. I met my husband while he was in AIT at Fort Sam Houston in 2016. We were married in Idaho, in 2017.  We have been stationed at Fort Lewis in Tacoma, WA for 5 years and returned to Fort Sam Houston in 2021. We have two boys, ages 4 and 1, and one fur baby.

I recently graduated with a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from Abilene Christian University. I received my Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education with a focus in Special Education in 2017 at Texas A&M- San Antonio. 

My experience with mental healthcare in the military, as a spouse following a devastating loss, was my driving force in pursuing this field. There is a desperate need for affordable access to mental healthcare for military service members, as well as their dependents. Just as there is truly a need for access to affordable mental healthcare for all. I have a passion for working with children, adolescents, and the infertility community. I am currently open to all modalities and theoretical approaches to treatment, as I believe every person is unique and requires a treatment plan as unique as they are. I wholeheartedly believe that the relationship established between therapist and client plays a critical role in the success of the therapeutic journey. 

I am looking forward to this next leg of my journey, learning from my colleagues in the field, meeting wonderful individuals in the community, and helping them achieve their therapeutic goals.
